Education Enrichment

At The Grange Academy, education enrichment is a cornerstone of our approach, complementing our knowledge-rich curriculum. We believe that a robust programme is essential for raising students' aspirations and equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve excellence, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Our programme begins with the transition to Year 7 and continues through to the end of the Sixth Form. It is built on four key pillars:

  • Connecting students to the world of work, future education, training, and employment
  • Enriching the curriculum
  • Providing exposure to culture, the arts, and sports
  • Building character, integrity, resilience, and judgement

Our education enrichment programme is designed to help our young people develop into well-rounded, thoughtful, and healthy citizens, ready to handle life's challenges.

We offer a variety of opportunities, including extracurricular and cultural activities, as well as talks and workshops on mental and physical health, safety, and global awareness.

Sport

In addition to the PE curriculum, the academy offers a range of sports enrichment clubs, many of which have teams that compete in local and regional competitions. Boys and girls can get involved in football, basketball, netball, athletics, cricket, dance, handball, table tennis, trampolining, rounders, and badminton at either a casual or competitive level.

Our facilities are second to none. We have a fitness centre with the latest cardiovascular and resistance equipment, a sports hall featuring a modern climbing wall with varying levels of difficulty, a floodlit all-weather MUGA for netball and tennis, and extensive playing fields including football and rugby pitches. We are also about to install a new all-weather cricket pitch here at Bushey. You can follow our PE department on X and Instagram

 The Arts

The academy boasts excellent facilities across the performing arts. In addition to our fabulous art and music rooms, we also have a state-of-the-art lecture theatre and a specialist drama studio.

Music is a real strength of the academy, with our regular musical performances always sold out. ABBA tributes, Beatles tributes, Christmas concerts, and summer events are all part of the "TGA Way." We celebrate and embrace culture, sharing and exploring the talents of our young musicians across the academy. We work closely with the Purcell School of Music and are keen to support our local community by showcasing the work of our young scholars.

Societies

At The Grange Academy, we encourage all students to actively participate in our comprehensive extracurricular programme. We are always keen to introduce new clubs to support the interests of our students. We offer a variety of clubs for your child, including a Maths Champions Club, a Board Games Club, and a Modern Languages Film Club, where students can watch and learn about new and classic foreign language cinema. Additionally, our budding scientists get to make things pop, crackle, and smoke in our Science Club as they work towards achieving the STEM Crest Awards.

Trips

Experiences outside the classroom enhance our students' knowledge and help them relate classroom teaching to the world beyond the school gates. Students have had the chance to see natural wonders in China, the USA, Italy, France, and Spain. Team building and resilience are further developed through our annual Year 7 'Bushcraft' trip. We also offer skiing trips to Austria, as well as visits to Rome, Milan, Malaga, and many other destinations.

Trips to London are also common, with various departments organizing visits to the theatre or sites of historical and political significance, such as the Houses of Parliament and the Supreme Court, as well as West End theatres and other excursions.
